ANIMAL ARTING 101

So, diving into the very first page of my UNAMED story I realized: I haven't drawn an animal in ages. Mainly because most of what I've been working on doesn't involve animals, so I haven't really had the need. So while my understanding of the human anatomy had been improving...

Who said I couldn't do porn?

My understanding of animal anatomy hadn't been. So being the amazingly boring person I am, I decided to attack this threat head on. So without any entertaining introduction, lets just jump in shall we?

So, these images are just basically... foxes... Um... There's really not much to elaborate on. A common problem I'm really running into is stagnant poses. I'll take some time to focus on making more fluid positions soon. Really, I just wanted to draw an animal with a very traditional body style, but a distinct look. A.K.A. foxes. Not perfect, but I figure, for a first time, not terrible.

Another attempt at drawing a muzzle from the front view. Profiles are fairly easy, but drawing a muzzle from the front is a different kind of hell entirely.

Then just the other day, I was bored and came up with these two character heads. These are... athrompaorghiclic characters that I have no idea if and when I'll do anything with... But I figure, it's a positive step in the right direction, as far as drawing animal style character... things.

These are only the first in a long series of animal drawings I'll be doing and I hope to slowly progress into rendering more advanced looking creatures. In between my professional comic work, of course.

Like Neil Armstrong once said:

"Shut the hell up, Buzz, or I'll give you something to cry about!"

"Now quit yer bitchin, and take my photo with this flag"
